Another long weekend has arrived in Toronto, and while many people are making plans to enjoy the extra day off, residents should take note that some businesses and services will be operating on modified schedules.
The Civic Holiday takes place on Monday, Aug. 3, meaning several government services, retailers and transit options will have adjusted hours.
Here is what will be open and closed across Toronto on the holiday Monday.
Attractions
Many of Toronto’s top attractions will welcome visitors on Civic Holiday Monday, including:
- CN Tower: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Ripley’s Aquarium: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Toronto Zoo: 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Casa Loma: 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Royal Ontario Museum: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Aga Khan Museum: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Ontario Science Centre: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Art Gallery of Ontario: 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Centreville Amusement Park: 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Shopping malls
Several malls will remain open but with reduced holiday hours. Shoppers are encouraged to check with individual retailers before heading out.
- CF Toronto Eaton Centre: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Yorkdale Shopping Centre: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- CF Fairview: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Dufferin Mall: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sherway Gardens: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Scarborough Town Centre: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Vaughan Mills: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Square One: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Bramalea City Centre: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Grocery stores
Some grocery stores will be open during the holiday, including Rabba Fine Foods and Farm Boy locations. Customers are advised to confirm hours with their local store before shopping.
What’s closed?
Banks, government offices and libraries across Toronto will be closed on Monday, Aug. 3.
LCBO and Beer Store
Most LCBO and Beer Store locations will be closed, although some select locations may operate with modified hours. Customers should check ahead before making a trip.
Transit
Transit services will continue operating across the region, but schedules will vary.
GO Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule, while UP Express will follow its holiday/weekend schedule.
The TTC will maintain regular service, but Line 6 Finch West will not begin service until 4 p.m. due to planned signalling and software work. Shuttle buses will replace service during the closure.
