For the past year an unassuming New Yorker named Ze Frank has been conducting an experiment in online community. Ze, originally famous for his How To Dance Properly Flash toy, has been producing a daily video called The Show. Each weekday Ze would rant, goof off, report with insightful and humourous commentary on the days news or whatever else inspired him.
Along the way his gathered a huge and dedicated following. He’s inspired people to do crazy things like create an Earth Sandwich, create Video for Ray, play a collaborative game of chess, help Running Fool cross the country and dozens of other projects.
Sadly all good things must come to an end. Although he warned everyone when he started, Ze has always maintained The Show would only go on for a year. Now as the end approaches he is sticking to that and we all realize just what Ze has managed to create in that time.
As I watched todays video, that is made up entirely of Sports Racers (viewers/participants) saying farewell, I am overwhelmed at the impact The Show has had on people. Unless you’ve been part of the project and watched Ze on a regular basis you might be mising out on some insider information but it is still worth watching. The Show is an incredible achievement in community and collaboration.
Whatever Ze does next I have confidence that he’ll continue to bring the world together in new, fun and exciting ways and I can’t wait to be part of it.
Thanks Ze for “Thinking So We Don’t Have To” and in the process making us think all on our own.
