Bruno Mars has officially kicked off his five-show run at Rogers Stadium with The Romantic Tour, and fans from opening night are already sharing their excitement following the performance.

Mars took to the stage Sunday night for the first show of the run after Saturday’s concert was rescheduled to May 31 due to heavy rain and strong winds.

Fans came from far and wide to see Bruno Mars perform

Sunday’s sold-out show drew a crowd of 50,000 fans. Among them was one concert-goer who told Now Toronto he flew in from Winnipeg just to see Mars perform live.

He said the trip was an easy decision because Mars’ music has always meant a lot to him.

“Since I was a kid, I’ve always listened to him… he’s very important to me,” he said.

Another fan attending her first Bruno Mars concert said his stage presence sets him apart from other artists.

“I just think he has that charisma,” she said.

One concert-goer who travelled from Dundas, Ont., rated his excitement level an eight out of 10, though he noted there was room for improvement when it came to venue access.

“The venue is nice, but they need to fix the way they get everyone into the area. Once you get here, though, it’s great,” he said.

Another fan said she was thrilled because it was her first time seeing Mars live, while another attendee revealed Sunday’s concert marked her fourth Bruno Mars show.

“He is the best entertainer all around. The whole night, you’re just jumping,” she said.

She also praised Rogers Stadium, despite it being her first visit to the venue.

“Everything went really smoothly. You don’t feel crowded, it’s huge, it’s great, we’ll definitely come back,” she said.

One family told Now Toronto they had flown in from Edmonton for Saturday’s now-rescheduled show, but that didn’t stop them from finding tickets for Sunday night instead.

“When I was younger, my aunt was the one who introduced me to Bruno Mars. We used to do birthday songs for her, we would dance, it was fun,” one family member said while reflecting on the singer’s importance to their family.

Online concert-goers have also been sharing videos and photos from the night, capturing everything from Anderson .Paak and Leon Thomas’ opening performances to Mars lighting up the stage himself.

Fans on social media even documented a marriage proposal during the concert, which ended with an enthusiastic “yes.”

The excitement will continue throughout the week, with Mars set to return to the stage on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
