The Liberal convention saw Canada wave goodbye to Justin Trudeau as leader and Prime Minister, but it introduced the world to his daughter Ella-Grace, and social users are praising the 16-year-old for her speech.
Ella-Grace took to the stage at the convention on Sunday to introduce her father, but in doing so, she made a moving speech, opening up about what it was like to be the daughter of Canada’s prime minister for the past ten years.
“It’s not that easy to be the kid of the prime minister,” she said. “Security, rules, drama have stopped me from feeling free over the years.”

Ella-Grace went on to say that despite the difficult times, she was able to find comfort with her father, who also grew up as the child of a Canadian prime minister, Pierre Trudeau.
“He never failed to make me feel better, he heard me, he understood me,” she said.
She went on to jokingly say that their experiences are still vastly different because Trudeau did not have social media at the time.
“Imagine constantly seeing your dad, or hearing news about him, as you constantly scroll through your feed,” she said. I” gotta say I’m looking forward to seeing more of him at home and less of him online.”
The speech has been well received by social media users online, with some of them even suggesting she should follow in the footsteps of her father and grandfather.
“Ella-Grace Trudeau has a future in Canadian politics. I am so impressed by her speech. Just as articulate as her father,” an X user wrote.
“I doubt we’ve seen the last of Ella Grace Trudeau,” another user wrote.

Another X user went on to say that “The Liberal Party have just introduced their next future leader… Ella-Grace Trudeau.”
Ella-Grace ended her speech by saying she wouldn’t trade her life as the daughter of a prime minister for anything.
As she closed her speech and that chapter of her life, she proudly stated, “my brothers and I have shared our dad with you for the past 12 years, now, we’re taking him back.”
