The Pan Am and Parapan Am Games come to Toronto this summer with more than an onslaught of athletes: they will also be accompanied by an entourage of infrastructure and cultural programming leading up to July’s momentous event.
Case in point, a summer-long array of community events dubbed The Pan Am Path Art Relay will approach the starting line on May 16 with kids-friendly programming like an educational eco-bike ride and the Toronto Bike Music Festival at Humber Arboretum.
Bringing together 84 km of previously disconnected multi-use trails, the Pan Am Path is billed as “combining the power of art and sport to create a living path across Toronto.” Stretching from Brampton to Pickering, the Art Relay will travel to various locations throughout the path to celebrate the arts, nature and active living.
Following the launch date at the Humber Arboretum, Friends of The Pan Am Path will be overseeing 13 more trail events in the coming weeks, culminating in a grand finale of First Nations community art activities at Rouge Beach. You can discover the full program of events and locations here.
You can also download the Pan Am Path app, a way-finding mobile service available through that specifically maps the path and its nearby attractions. It can match your location to music connected to the spaces you are travelling through.
