Did someone say sandwiches? This famed U.S. sub joint just opened its second Toronto location.
Jersey Mike’s Subs opened the first of 300 Canadian locations in August in Markham, and is now gracing 808 York Mills Road with another outpost that opened on Wednesday.
The Markham and York Mills openings are the first of six new Jersey Mike’s stores in development in the province.
By the end of the year, its parent company Redberry, will open a Jersey Mike’s in Union Station as well as Brantford, Guelph and Pickering, according to a company press release.
Redberry also owns two existing and recently remodeled Jersey Mike’s locations in Kitchener and London, Ontario.
“We are thrilled to continue to expand in the GTA and are looking forward to joining the York Mills community after the excitement around our Markham opening,” Ken Otto, Redberry CEO said in the release.
Fans of the sandwich shop have been reacting to news of its latest opening online.
“Oh my goodness!! Start the car!!,” one customer wrote on Instagram.
“Yes! I have been waiting for this day!!,” someone else said.
“SO EXCITED,” another person wrote.
According to the company, the six locations will employ nearly 100 crew members.
To celebrate the opening of its newest spot, the sandwich restaurant will hold a grand opening and fundraiser from Oct. 23 to 27 in support of its longstanding charitable partner, Make-A-Wish Canada.
Customers can download the Jersey Mike’s app and earn a free regular sub after their first in-app sub purchase and will also be able to support Make-A-Wish Canada via a donation box in store.
Jersey Mike’s is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
