Shake Shack is expanding in the GTA and opening six new locations by 2026, with one opening in Toronto this fall.

The popular American burger chain opened its Canadian flagship location in Toronto’s Sankofa Square (formerly Yonge and Dundas Square) last year and has had lineups ever since.

And last winter, two more stores opened in Toronto’s Union Station and Yordale Shopping Centre.

Now, the chain is ready to expand with six more locations in the GTA by mid-2026, including one in Toronto’s bustling Midtown neighbourhood and another in downtown Mississauga.

Here’s where the new Shake Shack locations in the GTA will be:

The company says the new stores are set to bring more than 400 new jobs to the region, reinforcing its long-term commitment to Canada.

“This next chapter is about more than opening doors—it’s about showing up for the communities we serve. Our intention is to deliver high-quality dining experiences that stand the test of time, and this GTA expansion sets the stage for Shake Shack’s long-term success in Canada,” Billy Richmond, business director of Shake Shack Canada, said in a statement on Wednesday.

The chain is renowned for its classic ShackBurger, crinkle cut fries, Chicken Shack and hand-spin milkshakes.

The new locations will also pay homage to local artists by showcasing their paintings and murals. The Square One store partnered with painter Blake Angeconeb, an Anishinaabe woodlands artist and proud member of Lac Seul First Nation from Treaty 3 territory, while the Yonge and Eglinton location collaborated with artist Kirsten McCrea to bring her signature style to the store.

Shake Shack has said it plans to open a total of 35 locations in Canada by 2035.
