Even professional race car drivers are having to get inventive when it comes to navigating Toronto’s traffic jams.

The 22-year-old driver told reporters that he had to find an alternate route in order to reach the venue on time.
“I am just super happy to be here in Toronto. I got stuck in traffic as well so I actually rented a bike to get here on time and then ran the rest of the way,” he told reporters.
However, he admits the detour did grant an opportunity to admire the lakefront.
“It is cool to just be outside along the water there. It reminds me a little bit of back home in Australia, people outdoors playing tennis,” he continued.
Hughes is poised to compete in two USF Pro 2000 series races this weekend.
This isn’t the first time traffic has left stars of their own show with no option but to ditch their cars.
Last month, singer Niall Horan was spotted walking to Scotiabank Arena ahead of his own concert after his car was stuck in gridlock on the Gardiner Expressway.

“Traffic’s too crazy in Toronto, so I’m walking to the venue,” he said in the video.
For this weekend’s Honda Indy, as of Wednesday afternoon, the westbound lanes of Lake Shore Boulevard West closed from Strachan Avenue to British Columbia Drive and will remain closed until Sunday at 11:00 p.m.
Significant delays are expected in the area, and police are advising motorists to plan alternate routes.
The Indy Car race will close out the weekend at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
