From Sunday, Oct. 12 to Monday, Oct. 20, the City of Toronto will host viewing parties at David Pecaut Square for all ALCS games, offering space for residents to come together and cheer on their beloved team. Additionally, all World Series watch parties will take place at Nathan Philips Square.
“These watch parties are more than just game viewings, they create a sense of community and civic pride, bringing people from across Toronto together in our public squares to celebrate the excitement of the playoffs,” a City of Toronto spokesperson told Now Toronto on Tuesday.
Jays fans can enjoy ALCS games on big screens with high-quality audio, lighting, and a live DJ between innings. The city notes that preparing for these events requires typical event coordination and management, including staffing, security, clean-up, and equipment load-in.
Given that the venue is outdoors, those looking to attend ALCS games at David Pecaut Square will need to be prepared for rain or shine conditions, as temperatures may fluctuate.
Wednesday’s forecast is mainly cloudy with light winds, a daytime high of 14 C, and a low of 4 C, according to Environment Canada.
On Thursday, Jays fans can look forward to sunny conditions, with a high of 15 C and a low of 4 C. And on Friday, cloud cover is expected to increase, with a daytime high of 15 C, a 40 per cent risk of showers, and a low of 11 C. As a result, those attending the watch parties are encouraged to bring an umbrella and wear comfortable, warm, water-resistant clothing.
“Wear a jersey, make a sign, paint your face or show your support any way you choose. Bring blankets or chairs to sit on, snacks and water if you wish,” the city said on its website.
