Iraq is set to face Senegal in its final group-stage match at Toronto Stadium on Friday, prompting several road closures and traffic restrictions around the venue.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Toronto Stadium, with thousands of fans expected to attend the match.
Motorists and transit users travelling near Exhibition Place, Liberty Village and the Fort York neighbourhood should expect delays throughout the day as multiple road closures and access restrictions are put in place.
The following closures and restrictions will be in effect:
Fort York neighbourhood (Local access only)
June 26, 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Local access will be restricted to residents and businesses within the Fort York neighbourhood, bounded by Bathurst Street, Strachan Avenue, Fleet Street and Fort York Boulevard.
Liberty Village (Local access only)
June 26, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Access will be limited to Liberty Village residents and businesses south of King Street between Dufferin Street and Strachan Avenue, as well as Ordinance Street east of Strachan Avenue.
Lake Shore Boulevard West
June 26, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Lake Shore Boulevard West will be fully closed between Bathurst Street and British Columbia Road. To ease congestion, motorists may be temporarily diverted northbound at Colborne Lodge Drive, Parkside Drive, Lower Simcoe Street and Rees Street.
Strachan Avenue and Exhibition Place
June 26, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Strachan Avenue will be closed in both directions between East Liberty Street and Lake Shore Boulevard West. All roads within Exhibition Place will also be closed to public traffic.
Bremner Boulevard
June 26, noon to 11 p.m.
Bremner Boulevard will be closed between Lower Simcoe Street and Navy Wharf Crescent.
Iraqi fan march
An Iraqi fan march will also result in temporary road closures before kickoff.
Supporters are expected to gather at Stanley Park before beginning their march at noon. The procession will travel south along Strachan Avenue and conclude at Coronation Park before fans make their way to Toronto Stadium.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes if travelling through the area.
Senegal fan march
Senegal also has a planned fan march from Trinity Bellwoods Park, on Queen Street West, at 1 p.m. down to Coronation Park on the waterfront.
