What to know
- Friday – Edward Street will close between Chestnut and Yonge Streets for the International Gita Mahotsav Parade, while Roncesvalles Avenue will close for the Polish Festival. Both are expected to reopen Friday night, with Edward Street reopening around 5 p.m.
- Saturday to Sunday – The Ukrainian Festival will shut down sections of Bloor Street West between Jane Street and Ellis Park Road, with additional closures for Saturday’s parade from about 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Saturday – The RBC Race for the Kids will close sections of Yonge Street and nearby roads in North York during the morning. Roads are expected to reopen after 11 a.m.
- Sunday – The Constantine Yorkville 5K will close sections of Bay Street, College Street, Spadina Avenue, Bloor Street West and Davenport Road. Several TTC routes will also be diverted, with closures expected to clear by noon.
Torontonians planning to drive around the city this weekend should schedule in some extra time, as multiple road closures are expected in busy areas.
From the Ukrainian festival to a Yorkville marathon, multiple road-based events across the city are set to significantly affect traffic on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Here’s what areas to avoid.
Edward Street
The International Gita Mahotsav Parade will cause closures on Friday on Edward Street between Chestnut Street and Yonge Street.
The road is expected to reopen by rush hour, at around 5 p.m.
Roncesvalles Avenue
The Roncesvalles Polish Festival will cause closures on Roncesvalles Avenue between Harvard Avenue and Boustead Avenue on Friday.
The TTC will also see some changes:
- 504A/304 King streetcars will divert to Sunnyside Loop, and the stops at Roncesvalles Avenue/Dundas Street West between Dundas West Station and Queen Street West will not be served.
The closure is expected to end after 11:59 p.m. on Friday.
Bloor Street West
The annual Ukrainian Festival and Parade is set to take over a significant amount of Bloor Street West for all three days this weekend.
The festival impacts the street between Jane Street and Ellis Park Road.
On Saturday, the parade will cause further delays, as it takes over Bloor Street West between Armdale Avenue and Jane Street from around 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
For all three days, the road closures are as follows:
- Bloor Street West from Jane Street and Runnymede Road (full closure on Bloor Street West)
- Bloor Street West from Runnymede Road to Ellis Park Road (full closure on Bloor Street West)
- Bloor Street West Road closure will extend from Ellis Park Road to High Park Avenue for the parade on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from approximately 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Runnymede Road will remain open northbound and southbound through Bloor Street West.
The closures are expected to lift after 11:59 p.m. on Sunday.
Yonge Street
The RBC Race for the Kids, Supporting Youth Mental Health at Sunnybrook, will take place on Saturday, closing off much of Yonge Street for the morning.
The five-kilometre route closes off the following roads
- Southbound Beecroft Road from Park Home Avenue to North York Boulevard
- Eastbound North York Boulevard from Beecroft Road to Yonge Street
- Southbound Yonge Street from North York Boulevard to Sheppard Avenue West
- Turn around on Yonge Street at Harlandale Avenue
- Northbound Yonge Street from turnaround to Turnberry Court
- Southbound Yonge Street to North York Boulevard, the finish line
The race will end at Mel Lastman Square.
The roads are expected to reopen after 11:00 a.m.
Yorkville area
The Constantine Yorkville 5 KM Run takes over the neighborhood on Sunday, closing multiple roads along the runners’ route, as well as in gathering and dispersal areas.
Around 850 to 1000 participants are set to fill these closed-off roads, blocking traffic and forcing driving to find another way around.
The road closures will be as follows:
- Formation Area: Bay Street from Davenport Road to south of Cumberland Street (all lanes)
- Start Line: Bay Street from Davenport Road to Yorkville Avenue (full road – northbound and southbound lanes)
- Southbound: Bay Street from Yorkville Avenue to College Street (southbound lanes)
- Westbound: College Street to Spadina Avenue (westbound lanes)
- Northbound: Spadina Avenue to Bloor Street West (northbound lanes)
- Eastbound: Bloor Street West to Bay Street (eastbound lanes)
- Northbound: Bay Street to the finish line at Davenport Road and Bay Street (southbound lanes)
- Finish Line/Dispersal area: Davenport Road at Bay Street (southbound lanes)
The TTC will also be rerouted during this time.
- 506 Carlton streetcars will divert both ways via Dundas Street East/West and Spadina Avenue, with stops on College Street between Spadina Avenue and Yonge Street not served. 506 Carlton replacement buses will operate between Bathurst and Parliament Streets
- 94A Wellesley buses will divert. Harbord Street/Hoskin Avenue between Spadina Avenue and Queen’s Park Crescent West, Queen’s Park Crescent East/West, and Wellesley Avenue West between Queen’s Park Crescent West and Yonge Street will not be served
- 13 Avenue Road buses will divert from Avenue Road, west on Davenport Road, south on Bedford Road, and west on Prince Arthur Avenue, to St George Station. The stop south of Davenport Road will not be served
- 19 Bay buses will divert and Bay Street between Davenport Road and Bloor Street West as well as eastbound stops on Davenport Road between Avenue Road and Bay Street will not be served

Road closures in Yorkville are set to clear by 12 p.m.
