Torontonians might have to grab an umbrella ahead of Thanksgiving Day plans, as the long weekend is expected to see wet weather, likely due to Hurricane Isaias.

According to the Weather Network, Canada will see some rain this weekend, as the hurricane travels north from the Gulf of Mexico’s coast. As of Friday morning, the hurricane has strengthened to a Category 3 storm.

The rain is mostly expected to hit the province on Sunday.

“A lack of high-pressure weather systems in the region could allow Isaias’ remnants to track towards the Great Lakes by early Sunday,” the Weather Network wrote.

The network added that rain could extend into Monday as well, making for a wet Thanksgiving. The rain could also increase depending on the hurricane’s specific path.

“Currently, there is uncertainty surrounding the storm’s northward track, so Ontarians are encouraged to monitor updates for changes in the forecast,” it stated.

The Weather Network said there is an unusual lack of hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean this season, partially due to a “super” El Niño.
