Toronto is in for a warm and mostly festival-friendly weekend as thousands of people head outdoors for the return of Taste of the Danforth and JerkFest Toronto, though, be prepared for the possibility of a few showers.

While a few passing showers could make an appearance through Friday evening and at times on Saturday, neither day is expected to be a washout. 

By Sunday, sunshine is forecast to take over, setting the stage for an ideal finish to one of the busiest weekends of Toronto’s summer festival season.

Friday: Showers could linger into festival opening night

Friday evening will remain warm after rain moved through the city earlier in the day, making it a comfortable night to stroll along Danforth Avenue as Taste of the Danforth returns after a two-year hiatus or to kick off the 25th anniversary of JerkFest Toronto at Centennial Park.

Saturday: Heat, humidity and a chance of thunderstorms

Saturday is expected to be the hottest day of the weekend, with a high of 29 C and humid conditions making it feel significantly warmer. 

There is a risk of scattered showers and thunderstorms, but there should also be plenty of dry periods for people planning to spend the day outdoors. If you’re heading to either festival, it may be worth packing a small umbrella or light rain jacket just in case.

Sunday: Sunshine for the final festival day

The nicest weather of the weekend is expected on Sunday, with sunny skies and a high of 29 C. The warm, dry conditions should make for an ideal day to visit the festivals as they wrap up.

Both festivals are expected to draw large crowds throughout the weekend. Taste of the Danforth typically attracts more than one million visitors, while JerkFest is celebrating its 25th anniversary with three days of Caribbean food, culture and live entertainment.

The forecast comes during one of Toronto’s busiest festival weekends of the summer. 

Taste of the Danforth is returning to Greektown after a two-year hiatus, while JerkFest Toronto is celebrating its 25th anniversary at Centennial Park, putting thousands of festival-goers outdoors throughout the weekend.
