
Toronto’s Gardiner Museum is set to partially reopen next month following the completion of a section of a large-scale renovation project.
The museum closed in July to undergo a $15-million makeover, but will be open again as of Oct. 7, with the exception of the ground floor, where construction of a community learning centre, and a gallery of Indigenous ceramics is ongoing.
“With the first phase of our Ground Floor Transformation complete, we’re excited to reopen our doors to the public on Monday October 7,” the museum announced in an Instagram post on Friday.
Its ground floor galleries will remain closed until October 2025, but guests will be able to access the second and third floors, as well as the basement studios, the museum confirmed.

Collection Galleries
Access to the second-floor galleries which showcase Chinese, Japanese, and European Porcelain.
Special Exhibitions
View special exhibitions that celebrate the Gardiner Museum’s past and look to its future at the Collecting Memories: 40 Years of Ceramics and Community exhibit and Test Kitchen: A Museum Project, which opens Oct.18.
Clay Classes
Fall classes begin Oct. 21, visitors must register online to guarantee their spot.
Clay Restaurant
The restaurant will resume its regular hours of operation (Monday – Friday: 11 am – 3 pm, Sunday: 10 am – 3 pm )with a revamped seasonal menu.
Gardiner Shop
Browse at a unique selection of handmade ceramics, jewellery and more at the museum’s temporary shop space, open during museum hours.

Admission costs $15 for adults and $11 for seniors (65+).
Those 18 and under and students with valid student ID are free. Indigenous Peoples, First Nations, Inuit, and Métis, are also Free.
Admission is free on Wednesdays after 4 pm. No advanced registration is required.
The museum is open seven days a week, from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Wednesdays, and 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on weekends.
