Canada has a new entertainment complex called The Bubble – the name may sound pandemic appropriate but it was decided long before any of us heard the words COVID-19.
The 10,000-square-foot “inflatapark” at Orfus Road is opening August 16 to satisfy those in Toronto who watch kids in a bouncy castle and wish they made them big enough for adults. Kids can enjoy it too, of course.
The massive, bouncy alternative to Sky Zone trampoline park is brought to you by the folks behind the adjacent Rinx Toronto and nearby Playtime Bowl. The Bubble features obstacle courses, slides and wall climbing. Aside from the elaborate blue-green bouncy castle, the facility includes an arcade and a laser tag course, which have been in short-supply in Toronto after Laser Quest closed.
There’s also a full-service restaurant and bar, as well as a “fuel zone” for those that need to power-up on smoothies or granola bars between marathons through The Bubble.
The venue was meant to open in fall 2019, before being delayed to March 2020. We all know what happened then.
“Like many other local businesses, we had to delay our opening,” said cofounder Michael Orfus, in a statement. “But now we’re very excited for guests to jump right in and experience all of our highly curated activities.”
Face masks will be mandatory at the bubble, except during food and drink consumption. Bouncing around among other guests naturally raises safety concerns as the Delta variant threatens a fourth wave.
In a statement released to press, the team behind The Bubble say they consulted with health experts and the International Association of Amusement parks to ensure best practices, implementing enhanced cleaning procedures, limited occupancy and physical distancing. Similar procedures are also in place at Sky Zone.
The Bubble is currently offering complimentary passes to frontline health-care workers until September 16.
