The food delivery service app revealed its annual ordering trends report and there are some fun facts.

For instance, Canadians love Indian food! The report shows that butter chicken was the most popular dish across the country, and it made the top ten list for every province.

Second, a perfect companion to the dish: garlic naan. In fact, the popular Indian bread actually made three separate appearances on Canada’s top ten most-ordered items.

Interestingly, when it came to the top items ordered for special occasions, Indian food was also front and centre. Butter chicken was the most popular food ordered on New Year’s Eve and Canada Day, while samosas were the top Thanksgiving order.

Surprise, surprise, the number one order for the Super Bowl was chicken wings! Meanwhile, California rolls were the top Valentine’s Day treat.

WHOA THERE, BIG SPENDER

The report also broke down the top five largest orders made by Canadian consumers this year.  And the most expensive order placed on SkipTheDishes this year came from Quebec and totalled a whopping $1,259.71! The order included 55 sandwiches, three pizzas and seven orders of poutine.

Following Quebec’s huge order, someone in British Columbia snagged the second spot, with an order that included 15 bottles of liquor, totalling $1,060.50!

In Alberta, someone spent over $900 on 36 plates of chicken and two salads, while an Ontarian spent almost $800 on an order of 70 tacos and 25 orders of chips complete with guac, salsa and horseradish cream. Yum!

GROCERIES, ANYONE?

When it comes to ordering groceries, the report shows Canadians love to snack. The most popular order? Not milk, not eggs or even bread, but chips.

Pepsi snagged the second spot, followed by ice cream, bananas, milk, and bread.
