Reaching its Silver Jubilee, the event now commemorates 25 years of creating space and opportunities for Indigenous storytellers to break career obstacles and network, collaborate and inspire others with their art.

According to imagineNATIVE’s Artistic Director Lindsay Monture, this year’s festival theme looks toward emerging artists who are inspired by those who came before them — generations of history, knowledge and culture that inspires to create and thrive, while supporting and uplifting others in the community.

“Like seedkeepers from generations past, we are planting, growing, harvesting, and collecting the abundance of stories and teachings, visually embodying who we are and passing it on to future generations of Indigenous creatives to adapt to their changing environments,” she says.

“In our 25th year, we look back and acknowledge all of you who have cared for these seeds and been such an integral part of our Festival’s journey. You have contributed to the future of Indigenous cinema and you are celebrated and loved.”

In addition to its annual festival, it also promotes year-round initiatives to showcase and celebrate Indigenous filmmaking and storytelling professions across Canada and around the world to raise awareness of Indigenous cultures and contemporary art.

This year’s festival will also feature a multi-day professional conference, organized by the imagineNATIVE Institute. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in special panels, masterclasses and networking events during the festival.

The Institute offers year-round chances for Indigenous professional development, including events, talks, workshops, classes, and many other opportunities that help Indigenous artists across the globe to advance their careers.

The festival is open to everyone and offers accessible ticket options and a large cross-section of programming and events. Get your tickets now for the 25th anniversary of the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival at imagineNATIVE.org
