
Looking for ways to celebrate International Women’s Day in the city this weekend? Well, look no further!
This weekend, you can head to a free International Women’s day pop-up marketplace downtown, explore the metaphysical at Gem Expo, or sign up to a free shinny tournament for ages 50+ at the Coca-Cola Coliseum.
Here’s a list of exciting and eclectic activities taking place in Toronto from March 8-10.
Friday, Mar 8:
Peruse beautiful gemstones from across the globe and embrace the metaphysical at Toronto’s Meta Expo and Gem Expo.
The two events will run simultaneously from March 8-10 at The Hyatt Regency, and will feature spiritual healers, a vast range of wellness products, metaphysical suppliers, expert talks, tarot card readings, meditations, and plenty of opportunities to purchase gemstone products.
Gem Expo will showcase precious stones from almost 40 local and international vendors and is also set to feature local, award-winning jewellery designers, artists and master gem cutters, collectible minerals, untreated gems, crystal healing, decorative gems for home decor, handmade jewellery and a silent auction to raise money for charity.
For avid beaders, jewellery makers and metaphysical enthusiasts both events will allow visitors to stock up on supplies, learn new jewellery techniques, as well as brush up on healing skills at classes with seasoned practitioners.
The Gem Expo and the Meta Expo will be held in two rooms at The Hyatt Regency.
Adult Day Passes are $10, 3 Day Passes are $20, students & seniors are$5
and kids 12 and under are free
One ticket will grant access into both shows with over 80 vendors combined and grant $10 in coupons to spend in the expo.

Get inspired at the National Home Show!
It’s happening this weekend and next weekend at the Enercare centre and will feature backyard design showcases, outdoor kitchen set ups, free consultations with design experts and much more!

Saturday, Mar. 9
For International Women’s Day, celebrate women working in exploratory and experimental musical traditions at the Women from Space Festival. The three-day festival will feature performances from female musicians as well as non-binary, genderqueer, genderfluid and gender non-conforming artists.
Its Friday show is sold out, so move fast for a chance to see a weekend show!
The festival is happening at 918 Bathurst, and tickets for the March 9 and 10 shows are still available.

Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival
Giggle your way through the weekend at the Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival.
The event will present 60-plus sketch comedy troupes until March 17 at The Theatre Centre and Comedy Bar offering a variety of shows, workshops and more!

The National Ballet of Canada – Alice in Wonderland
Get lost in Wonderland at the National Ballet of Canada’s production of Alice in Wonderland at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, playing until March 17.
The beautifully choreographed show by renowned choreographer Christopher Wheeldon is bound to take your breath away. This is a must see take on an all time classic.

This year’s Opera Fest cast is comprised of a talented group of emerging and established artists, featuring sopranos Stephanie DeCiantis and Emily Rocha, along with guest tenors from Mexico Christopher Gonzalez Arellanes and returning artist Alonso Sicairos-Leon, among others, all under the artistic direction of Stuart Graham.
Opera Fest is happening on March 9, at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity-St. Paul’s United Church, 427 Bloor Street.

Sunday, Mar. 10:
Community Skate at the Coca-Cola Coliseum
Lace up your skates for what might be the last time this winter.
The City of Toronto has organized a Skate Lending Library at the Coliseum on March 9 and 10, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The skating experience is open to all ages and abilities with free equipment rental available on site.
There will also be a shinny tournament for those aged 50 and above!

International Women’s day wellness pop-up
On March 10 from 12 to 3 p.m., the Bisha Hotel Sky Suite will host a one-day marketplace where guests can shop from a curated selection of female-founded brands.
Attendees can sip on champagne while they peruse the stalls, get complimentary express touch-ups at the glam bar, or make their own flower arrangements at the bouquet making station.
