
Let’s celebrate the start of fall with a new weekend roundup filled with some awesome festivities perfect for the new season. This week we got concerts, a hotel dog dip and lots of art festivals happening across the city. Here is what you can check out:
Friday, Sept. 22:
The MuchMusic Experience
On Friday, watch the Canadian premiere of the documentary 299 Queen Street West at Roy Thomson Hall at 8 p.m. The film tells the story of the origins of MuchMusic from the perspective of its VJ’s. After the screening, there will be an intimate and interactive Q&A with some iconic MuchMusic VJs.

50 Cent: The Final Lap Tour
Legendary American rapper 50 Cent will be in the city at Budweiser Stage for his “The Final Lap Tour.” The tour celebrates the 20th anniversary of his debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and includes special guests Busta Rhymes and Jeremih in the North America shows.

Toronto International Festival of Authors
If you’re a big reader, you must go to the Toronto International Festival of Authors (TIFA) where you can get the chance to meet and discover story creators through readings, conversations, workshops, performances and free activities. The festival includes over 200 events (mostly free) featuring authors and artists from around the world.

Saturday, Sept 23:
Queen West Art Crawl Festival
On Saturday and Sunday, embrace your inner artist at the Queen West Art Crawl. The free and inclusive festival is happening in Trinity Bellwoods Park from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. There, visitors can expect a variety of local artwork, live mural paintings, and tent talks. Local artists will be performing both days and a Kids’ Zone will have Drag Queen Storytime, along with other interactive activities.

LAPS- A Journey Through Time – Here and Now
Take control of time, literally, at a new art installation in Little Jamaica. Starting on Saturday, the art piece called LAPS will take over the corner of Eglinton and Oakwood avenues for a limited time with six huge hourglass modules, where the public can change time by turning the steering wheel.

Sneakercon
Gather around sneakerheads because it’s time for Sneakercon! From Sept. 23 to 24, you can find the best and most coveted sneakers, streetwear and more at Enercare Centre. Activities include giveaways, live auctions, sneaker influencers, and game shows. To ensure shoe authenticity, there will be guaranteed experts courtesy of eBay on standby.

Nuit Blanche 2023
Toronto’s favourite night art festival is back! Nuit Blanche starts this Saturday at 7 p.m., and it’s bringing over 80 contemporary art projects by nearly 250 artists. These exhibitions can be seen downtown, Etobicoke and Scarborough. The city says this year’s theme is Breaking Ground, which refers to the exploration of ideas about the natural world, change and innovation.

Sunday, Sept 24:
Lakeview Dog Dip 2023
Grab your pup and treat them to a fun day at the Radisson Blu Toronto Downtown’s 2nd annual Dog Dip organized by the Toronto Humane Society. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m, a maximum of 30 dogs will be allowed to swim in the pool as long as each dog is accompanied by two handlers. Though this is a leash-free event, dogs must be leashed arriving at and when leaving the pool. Owners will also be able to shop and enjoy food and refreshments.

Long Branch Tree Fest
Enjoy a relaxing day among nature at the Long Branch Tree Fest, a family-friendly event where you can learn about trees while also indulging in activities, educational walks and musical performances. The event will have more than 50 vendors and exhibitors, including food vendors and educational and community awareness. The event takes place at Marie Curtis Park from 12 to 4 p.m.
