Events happening in Toronto this weekend: Sept. 8-10

Happy weekend, Toronto! This week, there are lots of lively activities happening in the city from food festivals, art, to marathons. In this weekend’s line up, Torontonians can enjoy Taste of North York, a vegan festival and a global Asian music festival. Here is what you can check out:

Friday, Sept. 8:

Taste of North York

NeighbourLink North York and Street Eats Market have teamed up to create Taste of North York. From Friday to Sunday, Torontonians can enjoy over 50 food vendors, live music, art, dancing, kids activities and NeighbourLink’s Meet & Eat at Mel Lastman Square. All net proceeds will go towards supporting the NeighbourLinks food bank and community care programs.

UBE Night Market

On Friday and Saturday, the Bentway is hosting a free UBE Night Market from 3 to 11 p.m. The event will have tons of foods using the popular Filipino ingredient ube, along with live music and art installations. Guests in attendance include guest DJ @iamdjnina and magician Alvin Bucao, among others.

Taste of The Kingsway

From September 8-10, Taste of The Kingsway is happening on Bloor Street West from Prince Edward Drive to Montgomery Street. This festival will offer great food, music, contests, live shows and midway rides. This is known as South Etobicoke’s largest street festival, which is celebrating its 25th year.

Saturday, Sept. 9: 

Taste of the Junction

Explore Toronto’s Junction neighbourhood at Taste of the Junction where it’s holding a culinary event packed with 14 local businesses that will display an array of flavours and beverages to choose from. This free event takes place on 70 McMurray Ave. from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Princess Margaret Walk to Conquer Cancer 2023

Walk the length of a half-marathon to help fundraise for The Walk to Conquer Cancer. All proceeds go to The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The walk starts at Harbourfront Centre and will continue through the city’s most vibrant neighbourhoods. The Walk to Conquer Cancer attracts thousands of people together every year.

Cabbagetown Festival 2023

Toronto’s Cabbagetown is inviting you to its 44th Annual Cabbagetown Festival where it is celebrating culture, community and creativity. This is the first time the festival has been back since 2019. The two-day event will include local artisans, vendors, delicious eats and live entertainment. It’s located at Parliament St. from Wellesley to Gerrard and Carlton St. from Parliament to Ontario.

VegTO Fest

Plant-based lovers and herbivores, come one, come all! There’s a vegan festival happening at Nathan Phillips Square just for you and it’s going to have over 200 vendors. Try some yummy vegan food at Toronto’s only free vegan festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The festival is dedicated to making plant-based foods fun, accessible and mouth-watering.

2023 Constantine Yorkville Run

Are you a fan of marathons? Well, you need to check out the 2023 Constantine Yorkville Run, an in-person 5K run and virtual event. This event brings together local runners and businesses to raise funds for over 20 local charities. Over the past 13 years, the run has raised over $4.2M for the community and this year, it aims to raise a million dollars. The race starts at 8:30 a.m. at Jesse Ketchum Junior and Senior Public School.

1MX Music Festival

A global Asian music festival called 1MX is coming to Toronto to make its North American debut and it’s bringing tons of local and international sensations. The 1MX music festival shines a light on Asian culture by bringing together the very best in Asian music and food from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The event will take place at Budweiser Stage starting at 3 p.m.
