Looking for an outdoor art experience this weekend? A two-day art exhibition is set to grace Toronto’s vibrant Queen East arts district.
Organized by the non-profit organization Artists’ Network, the Riverdale ArtWalk returns for its 26th edition to make this summer fun, artsy and cool.
Learn about the creative process and inspiration behind art pieces as over 160 established and emerging artists come together at Jimmie Simpson Park in the Riverdale and Leslieville area on June 1 and 2 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Among the talented artists showcasing their work is Rob Croxford, who creates vintage-inspired artwork blending pop culture, nostalgia, typography, and humour, and has experience of over 20 years as a visual artist.
An abstract expressionist who calls both Canada and Ecuador his home, José Unda will also be presenting his work. Having exhibited in 10 countries, Unda has sold his work to renowned art collectors, including Luciano Benetton, co-founder of Italian fashion brand, Benetton group.
Kerry L. Ross, a Canadian oil painter born in Zimbabwe, will also present her captivating pieces.
Attendees can also look forward to the ADHD-inspired art of Toronto-based, New Orleans-bred artist Kyla Yager, and the rainy Toronto sceneries brought to life by acrylic artist Poonam Khanna, who is also based in Toronto.
Khanna will also be presenting her work at the Rosedale Art Fair, a similar event taking place on June 8 and 9 at Ramsden Park in the Rosedale neighbourhood.
Some other artists who will be participating include C.M. Duffy, Jacqueline Morin, Deepti Saxena, Arwynn Davey, metal sculpturist Lara Dion, and photographers Samuel Choisy and John Yates.
Beyond admiring the art, visitors have the opportunity to connect with the artists and find the perfect piece to take home within their budget. If you are lucky, you can also win an art piece by entering the draw at the Visitor Services booth in the park.
