The Hillside Community Festival is returning this summer to Guelph Lake Island to celebrate its 40th anniversary. This year, the three-day, not-for-profit music festival includes more than 70 artists from July 28 to 30.
Hillside is known for showcasing artistic expression, community engagement and environmental leadership. The festival caters to all visitors and families who appreciate art, culture and music. It is also easily accessible because of its setting on the campgrounds of Guelph Lake.
The event will include musical and spoken word performances, a drum and dance Indigenous circle, an artisan market, body and mind workshops, crafts and shows for children, and a diverse selection of food vendors.
Visitors can expect musical performances by artists,such as Witch Prophet, Tia Wood, Mountain City Four, and Bibi Club, among others.
The summer festival is highly recognized as one of Canada’s most progressive, sustainable and non-commercial community celebrations. Organizers say it is essentially a musical island getaway for visitors.
Hillside is also a registered charity that supports multiple green initiatives, in-the schools Indigenous circle sessions, and the “Girls & Guitars” campaign, which aims to support women interested in the music industry.
Weekend passes are currently $169 but are expected to increase on July 1.
Day passes are $69 for July 28 and $89 for the 29 and 30.
Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult. Single day and seniors tickets are available now.
Festival gates open at 4:30 p.m. and programming runs until 11 p.m.
