Among the dozens of event and city service cancellations on Sunday and Monday was singer-songwriter Jessie J’s Toronto stop on her No Secrets tour.

The artist, whose last name is Cornish, announced the cancelled show on her Instagram story late Sunday afternoon, stating just hours before the 7 p.m. start that she wasn’t comfortable making fans trek through the snow to attend the concert at The Danforth Music Hall.

“I am personally making the decision to cancel tonight’s show in Toronto,” she said. “I don’t feel comfortable having people risk their safety for the show.”

Cornish went on to say that despite how fans may be upset, she felt this was the right decision.

“I truly am sorry,” she added. “I’m currently standing in the venue and getting here wasn’t safe and the snow is only getting worse. I can’t imagine how people would get home in the dark with the weather like this.”

She said safety always comes first.

As of 5 a.m. on Monday, Environment Canada reported the Toronto City Centre area had seen 56 centimetres over the weekend, with the surrounding areas seeing similar numbers, leading to the declaration of a significant weather event.

The agency also reported January 2026 as the snowiest month in reported history.

Following the news, Jessie J posted an Instagram video on Monday sharing insight into her decision, saying in the caption that it “wasn’t quick or easy.”

This is the second time a Jessie J show in Toronto was impacted, after she cancelled her tour in 2025 to undergo a second surgery as part of her breast cancer treatment.

Some fans posted on social media expressing their frustration about the show being cancelled a second time for unavoidable reasons.

“I cannot believe that our second attempt to see you in years has failed once again,” wrote one user in the caption of his TikTok.

@JessieJ I cannot believe that our second attempt to see you in years has failed once again. We love you and have dreamt of hearing your voice in person for years. We drove 3 1/2 hours to the snow today to see you and we’re so happy to see that you landed safely in Toronto. The fact that mother nature has one once again has a really pissed me off, but I’m glad you’re safe and that everyone else will be safe as well. Here’s hoping I can get a ti let to a show soon! I needed this so bad! Love you!!!!!!!!!

They went on to say how they had driven three and a half hours to see her in concert, only for the weather to ruin the show.

“The fact mother nature has won once again has really pissed me off, but I’m glad you’re safe and that everyone else will be safe as well,” he concluded.

A fan on social media platform X said Jessie J made the right call to cancel the show.

Another fan echoed the sentiment.

“Jessie J definitely earned my respect for cancelling the Toronto show last night and personally paying for the ticket sale losses so her fans and crew would be safe in this awful snowstorm,” the X user said.

Some fans who arrived to the venue were treated to an intimate acapella show for their efforts.

Fans who bought tickets for the Toronto show were assured they would be getting full refunds.
