Canadian pop culture is having a moment. The new hockey series Off Campus just featured a song from Toronto rock band The Beaches, and fans across the country are loving it.
After Off Campus featured their music, The Beaches later returned the favour by highlighting the show during a concert performance. The fans of Canada’s two hottest young entertainment brands were delighted by the crossover.
How The Beaches ended up in ‘Off Campus’
In mid-May, Prime Video Canada premiered Off Campus, a hockey drama that explores the love story between a music student and a university hockey star.
Following the release of hockey drama Heated Rivalry earlier in the year, Off Campus was often compared to the show and has made a name for itself.

Off Campus featured the song “Edge of the Earth“ by The Beaches in its second episode. The song highlighted a loving moment shared between the main characters, Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham, in which Graham realizes his feelings for Wells and pulls up the song, knowing it’s Wells’s favourite band.
The Beaches returned the favour
During the F1 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, the Juno Award-winning Canadian band performed alongside a video of the scene in which their song was featured.
“Off Campus put us in the show, so obviously, we had to put them in our concert,” the band wrote in the video.

Fans are loving the crossover
Fans couldn’t contain their excitement.

Streaming numbers continue to climb
Since being featured on Off Campus, The Beaches have gotten the highest streams of their career, hitting 1.7 million streams in a day, an 888 per cent streaming spike.
