The holiday season is quickly approaching, and this year, the 50th anniversary of the One Of A Kind Show will make the occasion extra special.
Since 1975, the One Of A Kind Show has been illuminating the holidays for Canadians, providing an incredible celebration of the country’s craft culture and a chance for local talent and small businesses to spotlight their work.
This year, the event is hitting its highly-anticipated 50th anniversary, promising its greatest show yet, with over a week of special Christmas gifts, locally-crafted gems, delicious bites, and lots of entertainment.
In celebration of this big milestone, the show is returning from Nov. 27 to Dec. 7 at the Enercare Centre in Toronto.
One Of A Kind Director Janice Leung says the event first started with only three friends united by their love for craft and desire to shine a light on local creatives. Since then, the show has come a long way, now holding a special place in the lives of many Canadians.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the One of a Kind Show—a milestone that honours five decades of creativity, community, and tradition,” Leung told Now Toronto.
“To mark this special occasion, we’ve curated the largest roster of Canadian artisans from coast to coast, offering attendees the chance to discover unique, handcrafted treasures just in time for the holidays.”
As the name suggests, this event really is a One Of A Kind experience, which is much more than just a chance to browse and shop. United by a love of craft, the show offers art lovers and creators to come together, exchange stories, form connections and shine a light on Canadian-made goods.
This year, the event is hosting more than 750 Canadian artists and crafters, who will bring something for everyone to enjoy, including art pieces, jewelry, furniture, toys, and much more. This is your chance to treat yourself for one more incredible year, or go gift shopping for your loved ones.
With the holidays approaching, One Of A Kind is the perfect way to embody the magic of the Christmas spirit, making it the biggest and best Christmas market in the world!
Since its opening, the event has been surrounded by holiday joy and wonder, bringing everyone together. This year, this spirit is more alive than ever, as the show promises to come with features, fresh experiences, a new European-style Christmas market and even more gift options for your Christmas shopping.
For Leung, the event’s mission for uniting the community and its unmatched holiday spirit is what makes the festival so special, taking Canadians’ gift shopping experiences to the next level.
“What sets One Of A Kind apart from shopping at a mall or online is the personal connection you make when you buy something here. Every purchase is a piece of the heart and soul of these small businesses,” she said.
“Knowing that the show has become a cherished tradition for so many people is my favourite part—it’s a place where memories are made, year after year.”
This year, you can experience new areas and sections in the show, such as the Northwest Territories Pop-Up, highlighting the artistry and tradition of the region through the work of five incredible makers, and a Vintage Section with timeless pieces that will bring nostalgia to life.
Moreover, the show also returns with its series of creative presentations and hands-on activities for attendees to explore their love for craft. From eye-captivating fashion shows to a delectable food show and daily DIY workshops, there is something for everyone to celebrate at this year’s milestone event.
Adult tickets start at $23, with available discount options for seniors, students, families and GO Transit riders. Tickets include free re-admission to the event for the entire duration of the show.
