From coast to coast, we know that Canada is a beautiful place. There is no shortage of places for the perfect snap, and a new study has revealed the most “instagrammable” places in the country for tourists.
Locations that made the list from CasinoBonusCA.com were determined by analyzing the number of posts on Instagram with relevant hashtags for the top 50 tourist destinations in Canada to find which ten locations were the most popular with IG users.
Here are the top 5:
1. Old Montreal
The study found that Montreal was the top spot for those looking for the perfect instagrammable place for tourists. There were 22,398,024 posts on Instagram featuring tags related to the historic city, which is home to locations like the Notre-Dame Basilica, Place d’Armes, and Old Port of Montreal!
2. Niagara Falls
Next on the list is an Ontario hot spot! Niagara Falls takes the title of the second most instagrammable Canadian tourist destination. Travellers can enjoy the iconic waterfalls from above, or enjoy a boat ride through the falls. The study found 6,328,608 Instagram posts that include hashtags related to Niagara.
3. Whistler-Blackcomb Ski Resort
In British Columbia, the Whistler-Blackcomb skiing resort, which is home to the Whistler Sliding Centre, is the third most popular place in Canada for instagrammers. Year-round, travellers can enjoy the resort town set in the mountains, while in the colder months, it’s a popular destination for fans of skiing, snowboarding, and other winter activities. There have been 3,526,920 posts featuring hashtags related to this popular resort.
4. Old Quebec
Heading back to the east coast, Old Quebec was the fourth most popular Canadian tourist destination on Instagram, with 2,565,213 posts that include relevant hashtags. Old Quebec is home to various beautiful locations including, but not limited to the Château Frontenac Hotel, Citadelle de Québec, and Quartier Petit Champlain.
5. CN Tower
Rounding out the top five, the CN Tower takes the fifth spot on the list of most instagrammable Canadian tourist destinations. Instagram has 1,769,780 posts featuring tags relating to the tower. The CN Tower stands 553 meters tall and has been a Toronto landmark for decades, featuring lookouts for a perfect view of the city, an EdgeWalk around the outside of the main pod of the tower, and a rotating restaurant upstairs.
Vancouver’s Granville Island and Stanley Park took the sixth and seventh spots, respectively. Meantime, the Mount Edith Cavell Trail in Alberta’s Jasper National Park came in at number eight. Toronto’s St. Lawrence Market took the ninth spot, with Alberta’s Icefields Parkway in tenth place.
