Over the summer, Toronto’s Harbourfront welcomed a convenience store exhibit: a floating art installation that connects community and culture, inspired by Toronto’s role as a FIFA World Cup host city and a cultural crossroads for tourists and locals alike.

With summer coming to an end and Toronto’s cycle of heavy rains and winter approaching, the “inconvenience store” is retiring, and Torontonians are gathering for its funeral.
On Sunday, Oct. 4, content creator known as @bwong428 on Instagram is hosting the exhibit’s funeral at 5 p.m. at 25 Queens Quay W.
But unlike a regular funeral, he’s encouraging attendees to dress semi-formal, formal, or however they wish, rather than in all-black funeral attire.
“Get ready for some funny, I mean, super serious things planned for the store’s funeral,” the creator wrote in his Instagram caption.

Under that link, the event says it’s “giving it the send-off it deserves,” and that after the funeral, attendees will share food, snacks, and drinks at a sunset picnic.
