From Karate Kid to Paranormal Activity, even movie fans shouldn’t miss the fall and winter season at Toronto’s CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre.
The theatre announced on their website that they would be showing seven different shows in the main subscription, which are seasons that often consist of popular musicals and plays from Broadway, pre-Broadway engagements, and London’s West End.
Additionally, 12 non-subscription shows are also available for audiences to check out.
Here are some productions you don’t want to miss.
The Karate Kid: The Musical
Main subscription
Putting a spin on the 1984 cult classic, this UK production brings the action and drama film and book to the stage, incorporating emotional, Okinawan-inspired, heavy metal and pop-rock style songs, as well as choreographed dance numbers, into the coming-of-age story.
The production will run from September to November 2026.
13 Going on 30: The Musical
Main subscription
Jumping forward a couple of decades, this stage production transforms the 2004 rom-com, 13 Going on 30, into a funny and heartwarming musical, with original lead actress Jennifer Garner executive producing the theatrical version of the story.
The musical comedy will run from November 2026 to January 2027.
Inside the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
Main subscription
This theatrical production will use existing songs by renowned Canadian singer and songwriter Gordon Lightfoot, to tell the story of the controversial shipwreck that happened 50 years ago.
A group of musicians will be bringing the story of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald lake freighter, which sank in Lake Superior, and brought the deaths of all 29 crew members, to the main stage. This fatal shipwreck led to Lightfoot to write a hit song that told the story of the freighter, as well as the shipping trade on the Great Lakes.
The production will run for a month, from April 2027 to May 2027.
Paranormal Activity Live
Non-subscription
A classic film series in the horror genre, Paranormal Activity Live gives audience members the chance to experience its fears front and centre. The play has been adapted from the movies and will have its Canadian debut this year.
This production runs from June 9, 2026 to July 5, 2026, but tickets have not dropped yet.
MAMMA MIA!
Non-subscription
Being such a popular film, it’s no surprise tickets are already on sale for MAMMA MIA! The on-stage musical will feature the classic songs by Swedish band ABBA, and bring a Greek feel to Toronto.
Check out this feel-good production from August 4 to August 30 this year!
Mirvish is also anticipating other classic productions later this year, already selling tickets for shows such as The Great Gatsby, Kinky Boots and Moulin Rouge! The Musical among others.
