October 1 is International Coffee Day. With that in mind we’ve put together a list of some of Toronto’s must-visit coffee shops, in no particular order.

BEATRICE SOCIETY CAFE

Location: 511 Richmond St. West

Welcoming, relaxed and designed for work and casual meet-ups, Beatrice Society provides both an inviting atmosphere and an eclectic menu hinged on healthy snacks, smoothies, coffees and cocktails.

CASTLE AND COAL

Tucked away on Dovercourt Rd., Castle and Coal serves up French and English-inspired baked goods, desserts and pastries that pair perfectly with a hot or iced cup of its freshly brewed coffee.

AGENDA CAFE

Location: 622 College St.

A college street classic, this fun and quirky coffee shop is always bustling with students and bookworms. Agenda Cafe is casual and inviting, and a great spot to work, study, or catch up.

HAMERS COFFEE

Location: 870 Dundas St. West

Hamers Coffee boasts a minimalist, gallery-inspired aesthetic and offers a rotating selection of espresso & teas.

FOUND COFFEE SHOP

Found Coffee Shop has a couple of locations dotted around town. Its patio at the corner of Trinity BellWoods is ideally placed for a post-park brew, it also serves excellent avocado toast.

ISLE OF COFFEE

Isle of Coffee is a self-described “cozy outpost” serving a range of espresso & teas as well as sandwiches and homemade treats.

WHITE SQUIRREL COFFEE SHOP 

Location: 907 Queen St. W.

The novelty of ordering your coffee through White Squirrel’s window never wears off. This quirky little spot sits just across the street from Trinity BellWoods Park and often draws a coffee-craving crowd, not to mention the friendly staff, quick service and tasty snacks.

FORGET ME NOT COFFEE

This quaint little coffee shop certainly lives up to its namesake. It might be small but its delicately presented coffees and living-room-like backdrop are sure to draw you in.

ALMOND BUTTERFLY 

Location: 100 Harbord St.

This spot serves up delicious and playful-looking baked goods, from cookies to cupcakes and hot chocolates loaded with whipped cream, this is a great place to indulge when you’re craving a treat.

CAFE 23

Location: 728 Queen St. West

Famous for its unconventional interior and delicious pastries, Cafe 23 is home to one of Toronto’s most sought-after and unassuming patios. Be sure to give yourself some time to check this place out as the line to grab a drink is often out the door.
