The scoop on Booyah

Are you a midtowner unwilling to hike all the way to Bakerbots or Bang Bang for a custom ice cream sandwich (no matter how good it might be)? Then you’ll have only one word for this bit of restaurant news: Booyah.

An ice cream sandwich shop with that exuberant name opened a couple of weeks ago on Vaughan, just a few paces away from the eternal font of whimsy/dairy fat that is Dutch Dreams.

Toronto ice cream addicts will be familiar with the sandwich format: pick a house-baked cookie (the sleek tiled storefront will inevitably be filled with the scent of the latest batch) and get it slathered with your favourite flavours of ice cream. Top sellers include Kawartha Dairy salted caramel and PB&J flavours, and Ed’s Real Scoop’s toasted marshmallow – all of which are smashing on a toffee-chunk cookie.

16A Vaughan, at Hocken, 647-347-2001, booyah-inc.com, @BooyahInc. Monday to Thursday, 2 pm to 10 pm, Friday to Sunday, 12 pm to 11 pm.
