Furlough closes abruptly on Queen West

Just 18 months after it opened, Furlough has shut its doors. The bistro and cocktail bar, created by BarChef owners Frankie Solarik and Brent VanderVeen, closed abruptly earlier this month, with laid-off staff reporting the closure on social media.

Located in what was once the home of modern-Canadian eatery Ursa, Furlough drew praise for its lengthy, exquisitely detailed menus of “classic” and “contemporary” cocktails, as well as its luxuriously cozy setting. No word on what will take its place in the space next.
