It is with a heavy heart that I bid farewell to this beautiful, beautiful $5 nacho burger. Kitch, Geary Ave.’s favourite source of cheap food, cheap-ish craft beer and probably more than a few drunken sessions on a vintage stand-up Pac-Man console, shut its doors on January 4.
In a Facebook post, the restaurant thanked its patrons, regulars and friends, hinting that “there are some amazing things planned for the space.” The bar is set to host a closing sale tomorrow and Sunday to clear out its furniture, games, and knick-knacks – as well as its kitchen gear, which means we can only assume the new tenant won’t be a restaurant.
With the gallery and DIY scene gathering on Geary (and Dupont to the south) continuing to pick up steam, it’s a shame those massive platters of pulled pork nachos and pitchers of KLB Raspberry Wheat won’t be there for the art crowd to enjoy late into the night. Goodnight, sweet prince.
