Question for the ladies!
We all know that dating in Toronto is tough and finding your perfect match can sometimes feel like searching for a needle in a haystack.
But to find Mr. right you have to bypass the first line of defence: the first date.
We’ve heard all the hot takes go down in the group chat and even the recurring viral debate online about who covers the dinner bill to how soon can you ask for a second date without coming off too pushy.
These conversations are as old as time, however, one Toronto woman is unearthing a new debate: why isn’t a date at Moxies enough nowadays?

TikTok user @kitanamilan sparked the debate and went on a one minute rant about how women in Toronto are “out of pocket” for expecting men to dig deep into theirs on dates, sometimes to the tune of hundreds of dollars.
“I’m all about standards, but if I’m speaking in the mindset of a guy and I’m taking you out on a date…and seeing if I want this to progress to something more.. I’m not spending no two, three hundred dollars on dinner,” she said.
She added that if a woman wants an expensive dinner so badly they can throw in a $50 or a $100 bill to chip in.
If not? She believes women should be down for that Moxies, Jack Astors or Wild Wings date.
“It’s a free meal, I don’t understand what the problem is,” she continued.
Surprisingly, women blew up the comment section praising her sentiments and agreeing with a lot of what she had to say.
“Standards high..no problem! But, if you can’t do it for yourself..don’t expect a man too!!!” one user commented under the post.
“Good point, it’s always good to take things slow,” another user said.
Men also made their way into the comment section thanking the video creator for saying what’s been on their minds. Some even admitted they stopped dating because of how expensive it became.
