Boo-tiful stuff for all your scary soirees

Rating: NNNNN

OK, we know some of you hosebeasts, faux vampires and that annoying guy who stole my pink boa last Saturday night (yes, you!) have already started tarting it up for Halloween parties. But guess what? The thrill goes on this weekend with more scary soirees. So if you’re going to be one of the creepoid hostesses-with-the-mostest, here are a few things for getting the ghoulish affair going.

God, there’s nothing scarier than a pumpkin gingerbread cookie, eh? Terrify your friends with these goodies. (1, Sobey’s, 2451 Danforth, 416-698-6868, $.69-$1.49). Look inside your head with skull patio lights — so quaint for fall (2, Shoppers Drug Mart, various locations, $3.99), or bring out half of T.O.’s latent Catholicism with Gothic crosses (3, Malabar, 14 McCaul, 416-598-2581, $10).

Spiders are gross. Eeew. Except when they’re fuzzy and you can put tea lights in them (4, Hallmark Cards, various locations, $12.95).

Don’t put your tacky treats in just any old punch bowl. Be thematic with this witchy kitty candy bowl (5, Red Pegasus, 628 College, 416-536-9131, $36). And if you’re going to drink blood, you can’t do it with cups from goddamn Caban. Go skull goblet for that full “(sigh) I wish the Sanctuary hadn’t closed down” feeling (6, Malabar, $7).

It’s not a kitschy party until you have some boppy balloons (7, Shoppers Drug Mart, $2.49).

Now this guy is u-u-gly (and about 2 feet high). Park him in front of the Sunchips to make sure the party snack hog gets scared off (8, Malabar, $35).

A mini-strobe light can make everyone look frightening, so if all else fails, make your guests look like they’re in a bad metal video (9, Malabar, $26). Dress up your table with these Halloween “place settings” (10, Carlton Cards, various locations, $3.29-$3.99). Look! A hanging spider! Run! (11, Malabar, $16). Need some tunes to get in the mood? How about Music For Vampires: A Delicate Dependency? — rare cuts from folks like Love and Rockets and the Birthday Party (12, Music World, 220 Yonge, 416-979-9248, $26.99). Also: skull shot glasses (13, Malabar, $8), ghostly candles (14, Red Pegasus, $15/pair) and a how-to-decorate-your-Halloween-party book (15, This Ain’t the Rosedale Library, 483 Church, 416-929-9912, $10.95). Boo!
