WHO: Brad Perry, hairstylist (www.bradperry.ca)
WHEN: Monday afternoon
WHERE: Granby and Yonge
CLOTHING: “I picked up my shoes the last time I was in England. You can get a pair if you like at www.oki-ni.com. They’re $180. The black jeans are good ol’ Levi’s ($90, Original Levi’s Store, 322 Yonge, 416-591-7186, and others). My T-shirt was a birthday gift from my friend Stuart at Model Citizen (913 Dundas West, 416-553-6632). I have a small collection of vintage scarves. This one is my prized Hermès. I bought it at Dennis’s House of Vintage (571 Queen West, 416-363-8343) for $80. I got my visor in Chinatown for $5. My friend Amy, who used to be a piercer at Way Cool Uptown (5203 Yonge, 416-226-4142), did my ears, and I got the jewellery there, too. These glasses were sunglasses I picked up from a street vendor. I took them to Karir Fashion Eyewear (138 Cumberland, 416-975-0536) and had prescription lenses put in for about $100. A friend of mine ran off to New York and worked for a while airbrushing hats and shirts at Coney Island. While I was visiting and having the time of my life on the Cyclone, he made this bag for me. The knitting needles are from the Knit Cafe (1050 Queen West, 416-533-5648). They’re usually about $15 a pair, depending on the size. My friend Markus gave me the yarn. I’m working on a scarf for myself right now. It’s made on the diagonal, and since the yarn is variegated, the changing colours create the pattern.”
HAIR: “Mostly I cut my own hair. For the summer I’ve just been using clippers on the sides and back and letting the top grow.”
MY STYLE: “Castaway from the Chambre Syndicale.”
INTO: “I’m all about BBQs this summer, hanging out at night on my rooftop and sitting in the ‘splatter zone’ at Evil Dead: The Musical (Diesel Playhouse, 56 Blue Jays Way, 416-971-5656). Also, I never miss Hot Nuts at the Beaver (1192 Queen West,416-537-2768). It’s my favourite. Last Saturday of every month. Come!”
