A nostalgic 90s lunch is back in Canadian grocery stores for the first time in 15 years.
Lunchables made a return to supermarket shelves across the country today and Kraft Heinz gave away 10,000 free samples in celebration.
The classic compartmentalized lunch first launched in Seattle in 1988 and quickly took North America by storm, despite its questionable nutritional value.
Children relished in the tasty and conveniently packed snacks, but Lunchables mysteriously vanished from Canadian stores in 2009. However, ahead of its relaunch, the brand jokingly acknowledged its untimely disappearance in a ‘goodbye video’ released yesterday.
Now, Lunchables is offering five varieties for Canadians to enjoy.
The return of the brand’s fan-favourite Turkey and Ham Cracker Stackers, along with three additional options: Cheese Pizza, Pepperoni Pizza and Nachos.
“We are so excited for Lunchables’ return to Canada and all the great things kids will be able to build with the brand. Canadians have been demanding for more variety in the grocery store, especially for more convenient, wholesome mealtime and snack options, and Lunchables is another great option for fans to enjoy,” Daniel Gotlib, head of marketing and strategy at Kraft Heinz, said in a news release.
