Sarah Polley’s daughter has the internet cracking up after she sent her mom a fake letter for April Fools’ Day demanding she return her Oscar, citing it was all a mistake.
The Toronto filmmaker took to Twitter to share the full letter which quickly went viral with over three million views.
And despite it being a prank, it was still painfully hilarious to read.
“My eleven-year-old swung low for April Fools Day this year,” she tweeted on April Fools’ Day.
Polley won the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for Women Talking at the 95th Academy Awards last month.

“The Oscar you received was given by mistake- you must return it. We are giving you one more week to enjoy its presence in your home, but after that period of time you must mail it back to LA,” the letter read.
The letter also jokingly stated that the reason it wasn’t flagged sooner was to avoid another Oscar mishap, referring to when La La Land accidentally won Best Picture instead of the actual winner, Moonlight, six years ago.
“We also did not want it to get all over your local news, as the citizens of Toronto would probably be quite irritated,” it continued.
Luckily many thought it was a great prank.
“With this cleverness at age 11, there are more writing awards in your family’s future,” one Twitter user from Ottawa wrote.
“So genius. Pretty clear from this she’ll be winning her own Oscar one day. And her David Rubin signature forgery was SPOT ON!” another said.
