Love is Blind is coming to Canada, and excitement is already building as many Toronto singles have said they look forward to applying.
The popular U.S. reality show will soon land in Canada, putting emotional connection to the forefront as daters sit separate pods, shielded from their potential partner’s view, to test if love really is blind.

Would Torontonians apply?
Toronto resident Justin was smiling with excitement at the announcement.
“I would love to participate,” he happily said.
Justin was so excited for the show to come to Canada that he forgot he had a girlfriend and couldn’t apply.
While Toronto resident Ryan O. remembered his relationship, he said his single friends might be interested in the casting.
However, Toronto resident Megan L. is single and said she would consider it.
Do looks matter?
When it comes to dating, do looks matter? Justin says no, not to him.
But for Ryan O., it does.
“I’m a big believer in ‘beauty is in the eyes of the beholder,’ … physical attraction is important,” Ryan shared.
“But I definitely think emotional attraction is hugely important as well, and you can still have a connection with someone, and I think the physical aspect can grow as you spend more time with them,” he added.
But Megan L. believes the opposite, saying deeper conversations are her top priority.
“I’m a sapiosexual, so I’m really attracted to intellect and being able to have deeper conversations, which a lot of people are afraid of today,” she told Now Toronto. “Looks fade over time.”
Will this help singles on dating apps?
So will having the opportunity to apply for the show help those who are stuck in a cycle of swiping left or right? Ryan O. believes it will, because the show’s goal is to help each individual find love, while dating apps have endless options.
“It’s like the paradox of choice, like there’s always someone a bit better down the line, so you never cut down your options,” he said.
So, Ryan believes that Love Is Blind will help create genuine human connections.
Megan L. agrees that dating apps removed the human connection from dating.
“It is very superficial. Swiping on someone just feels already disposable, which is half the problem with our generation,” she said.
