Some Torontonians are upset after finding out a Wahlburgers location will be closing its doors permanently following nine years of business.

On Tuesday, the burger joint and sports bar made the announcement in an Instagram post.

“It’s time. After a successful 9-year run, Wahlburgers Toronto will close, effective immediately. The decision to close presented itself organically as an evolution of business and lifestyle in our beloved city; it just feels like now is the right time to say goodbye,” the post read.

The restaurant at 46 Blue Jays Way near the Rogers Centre, which was the first franchise location to open in Toronto, has closed “effective immediately,” according to the post.

Wahlburgers was created by popular American actor Mark Wahlberg, along with his brothers Donnie Wahlberg and Chef Paul Wahlberg.

“Opening Wahlburgers’ first franchise location and serving quality comfort food to Canadians has been the pleasure of a lifetime, and also a wild ride,” the post continued.

“Over the past decade we have hosted many dinners, parties and events, including a few that made it on TV! It has been an unforgettable run. Thanks for the memories,” the post continued.

The restaurant was inspired by the Wahlberg’s family love and affinity for casual comfort food and is reminiscent of their Boston childhood.

Some fans took the time to share their appreciation for the restaurant on Instagram.

“Gonna miss my Thanksgiving Burgers and Tater Tots. Thanks for the oh so many fun memories!!!! Chef Paul is seriously one of the nicest humans,” one user said.

“Thank you @wahlburgersca ! And thank you to @markwahlberg @chefpaulwahlberg and @donniewahlberg for bringing your childhood meals and memories to Toronto. You will be missed..especially by your loving fans,” another user commented.
