The second album from Gothenburg, Sweden’s jj begins with a minor-key, self-serious interpretation of the chorus in Lil Wayne’s My Life. That should be enough to make you want to avoid this.

The duo’s first album was full of forward-looking, fresh-thinking musical ideas. This compilation of afterthoughts casts doubt on that assessment. jj don’t just make mistakes they make charmless and unlikeable mistakes.
Mopey, twee, orchestral, downbeat – the duo cover all these bases in the flattest, most sophomoric way. Worse, though, is that the album sounds like a bunch of outtakes.
There are some nice melodic turns, as in the Magnetic Fieldsish You Know, but in the context of the other sad sack tracks, those feel like detours.
