Album reviews Music

Rapper Big Pooh

Rating: NN

In my humble opinion, 9th Wonder, who does about half the beats on this album, is less the new hope of rap production and more a second-rate Premier who uses Fruity Loops (www.fruityloops.com). So you’ll have to excuse me for shrugging my whole way through the first album from the weakest link of the Little Brother chain. Big Pooh can flex on more subjects than the average bear – writer’s block, relationships and ripping mics – but he does so each time with the exact same flow and intermediate-level lyrical skill. Hopefully, LB’s upcoming The Minstrel Show will be more of a wake-up call than this collection of Sleepers.
