Toronto queers, this one’s for you: 7 events to start the year off right

From drag brunch and disco nights to reggaeton, karaoke and queer cinema, Toronto’s lineup of 2SLGBTQ+ events for January is starting the year strong.

A whole new year of queer events is upon us, Toronto!

The holidays may be over, but that means that an entire 12 months of 2SLGBTQ+ parties, performances and workshops have just begun. From drag shows to discos and drawing classes, here are seven queer events in Toronto to check out in January.

Balls Deep Disco

When: Jan. 10

Where: The Black Eagle

Cost: $10/$15

Head to The Village and dance the night away at the first Balls Deep Disco of 2026.

Both DJs Burn Baby Mikey Boy will be on deck, promising to turn your dry January into a… wet one.

The party starts at 9 p.m. and runs until 2 a.m. 

Amuse Bouche Karaoke

When: Jan. 11, 18 & 25

Where: Three Dollar Bill

Shake off the Sunday Scaries with queer karaoke every week at Three Dollar Bill.

The Queen W. queer bar is putting on a karaoke night every Sunday of the month, with host Friendly Black Hottie on Jan. 11 and 25, and Jaye Garcia on Jan. 18.

The Jan. 11 party’s theme is “ONCE MORE with FEELING,” with singers encouraged to sing along to covers, remakes, samples, and remixes. While Jan. 18’s theme is “But I’m Just a Baby!” where you can jam out to songs from your favourite artist’s early career!

And heads up – entry is free!

CENTREFOLD 

When: Jan. 14

Where: Two Heart Chapel

Cost: $23.69 

Ever wanted to try your hand at live drawing? Now is your chance! Hosted by Something Creative Co., CENTREFOLD is a playful live drawing event inspired by vintage costumes.

Tickets include all the materials needed to complete the class, including paper, pencils, charcoal, erasers, and collage supplies, but participants are encouraged to bring any other supplies they would like to use.

Doors open at 7 p.m., with costume drawing starting at 7:30, lingerie drawing at 8:15, and nude drawing at 9:00, followed by a social mixer at 9:30.

Be Gay, Eat It

When: Jan. 17

Where: The Well on Queen St. W

Party and be entertained for a good cause at BE GAY, EAT IT, a fundraiser for Side by Side Guelph hosted by The Imperial Court of Toronto drag queens and comedians. It’s all going down from 6:00-10:00 p.m.

With a goal of raising $1,250, performers at the event include Dahlia Doll, Nikki Godin, Renona, Nick Durie, Christine Decelles, Nikki Chin and Malcolm Derikx. Plus, organizers are auctioning off the chance to pie them in the face. 

Side by Side is a donation-funded, volunteer-run grassroots organization working to provide weekend meal service, emergency food hampers and delivery of home goods to those in need in Guelph. 

Queer Cinema Club: Bottoms

When: Jan. 26

Where: Paradise Theatre

At 7:30 p.m., Toronto’s Queer Cinema Club is hosting a screening of Bottoms, a sapphic favourite from 2023, directed by Toronto-born queer filmmaker and director Emma Seligman. 

Starring iconic actors Ayo Edebri and Rachel Sennott, Bottoms follows the duo as they navigate being queer seniors in high school, with a twist. The pair start their own fight club as a scheme to win the affections of the school’s cheerleaders.

Reggaeton Viejito 

When: Jan. 23

From 10 p.m. until last call, Reggaeton Viejo is taking over Flash for a night of classic reggaeton, throwback perreo, and high-energy drag performances featuring Sanjina Dabish Queen of Canada’s Drag Race, and King Rico Rico

FEMME Drag Brunch

Where: Bar Reyna

Cost: $10-20

Enjoy elevated drag performances and a delicious brunch at FEMME Drag Brunch.

Designed specifically to meet the soft, warm aesthetics of Bar Reyna, the show promises polished performances, pop diva energy, and a joyful, empowering, effortlessly glamorous interactive brunch experience. The show is an inclusive, welcoming space celebrating women, the queer communities, and all expressions of femininity.

Hosted by Jayjay Kings of Drag Brunch Saved My Life, the show includes performances from dancing diva Destiny and Kitten Kaboodle of Canada’s Drag Race and Traitors Canada. Seating is limited, and purchasing tickets ahead of time is recommended. Available until Jan. 11, early bird pricing is $10, while general admission tickets are $15, and door admission is $20.
