A Toronto cafe and bar is calling out the “amazing Spock” from Star Trek for being a “terrible customer.”
Zachary Quinto, known for playing Spock in the Star Trek movies, was recently spotted in Toronto celebrating his 47th birthday and visiting popular attractions in the GTA, including Canada’s Wonderland.
Manita Ossington, the café in question, posted an Instagram story around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, accusing the American actor of yelling at their staff “like an entitled child” after he failed to respond to the actor’s texts informing him that his table was ready.
The café claims Quinto refused to believe that the empty tables he saw in the restaurant upon arriving were reserved and not available for him.
The post also mentioned that the actor made the “host cry and the rest of brunch diners uncomfortable.” Manita Ossington asked Quinto to take his “bad vibes somewhere else,” noting that they frequently host celebrities, but he is “NOT one of them.”
Just two hours after their post, Quinto posted a story on his Instagram, appearing to be at another Ossington bar, Paris Paris, with a small dessert and a lit birthday candle.

While Quinto found another spot to continue his birthday celebration, Manita Ossington doubled down on social media with an Instagram post on Monday morning.
The post included a screenshot of their Sunday evening story, captioned, “This isn’t the first time, nor will it be the last time an irate guest has taken their frustrations out on our staff…”
Addressing restaurant workers “everywhere,” the post called out “all the other Zachary Quintos out there,” asserting, “We aren’t above criticism, but we are above being demeaned.”
The café’s post garnered support from many, with one Instagram user applauding the establishment for standing up for their staff, “Finally, a company standing up for their staff. This happened to me at my previous workplace, and instead of sticking up for me, they let me go to avoid ‘bad press’. Thanks for being a real one, Manita.”
Another Instagram user supporting small businesses in the city commented, “Bravo! It’s really tiresome hearing about how B list celebrities behave at independent businesses. This is the second report we have seen about their crummy behaviour while in Toronto and we have to say. Just don’t come here if you are going to be awful. Sorry to hear this has happened but not surprised. 😢”
However, another user had a different take, commenting, “Ah – another story of a host not moving people around to accommodate. There are many ways to handle this and rejecting a customer, especially Spock, definitely isn’t the way…”
