The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is rolling out a one-time grocery rebate to millions of Canadians on Wednesday.
The rebate was announced earlier this year as part of the federal government’s Budget 2023 and aims to help approximately 11 million eligible Canadians who have low to moderate incomes amid rising inflation.
The payment is based on your 2021 tax return and will be issued alongside the next quarterly GST/HST credit payment.
In order to receive the July GST/HST credit, you have to file a tax return for 2022, even if you have not received income for that year.

Canadians can expect an amount that is calculated based on each family situation in January 2023 and the 2021 adjusted family net income.
The rebate will be equivalent to double the GST/HST credit amount you received for January 2023.
The payment will be delivered to eligible Canadians and will be up to $234 if you are single, $306 if you are married or have a common law partner and $81 for each child under 19 years of age.
You could receive a maximum payment between $234 to $628 depending on the amount of children in your household.
If you are married or have a common-law partner, you can receive between $306 and $628 depending on the amount of children in your household.
Those eligible for the rebate will automatically receive the money through direct deposit or by cheque.
