Construction on the line began in 2019 and was slated to be finished and opened to the public by late 2023. Media reports have suggested a Dec. 7 opening, but the date remains unconfirmed by the TTC.

These changes join a number of adjustments within the transit system over the last few days, including two stations along the Line 5 Eglinton Crosstown LRT opening to the public: Mount Dennis GO and UP Express Station. TTC and Metrolinx additionally opened several entrances to the crosstown’s Cederavale Station on Nov. 16, previously known as Eglinton West Station, for Line 1 passengers. An opening date for Line 5 has not been set, TTC confirmed earlier this week.
The transit agency has also begun rolling out new signage in the former Dundas Station, which is rebranding to TMU Station, as per approvals to the name-change earlier this year as part of a partnership between the TTC and Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU).
