The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Huntsville has arrested an impaired driver and in the midst, found a raccoon in his vehicle.
On Wednesday, OPP say it responded to a public report of a possible impaired driver in a parking lot on Cann Street. When officers arrived, they arrested and charged the driver for impaired operation, but also discovered a baby raccoon in the vehicle.
Officers rescued the raccoon and sent it to Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary.
“It is unclear why the driver was in possession of the raccoon,” OPP said in a statement on Wednesday.
A 39-year-old man of South River has been charged with operation while impaired, breach of conditions and cannabis readily available.
The suspect is currently being held for a bail hearing.
