Some Canadian Amazon shoppers were shocked to learn that the global online retailer is selling “Canada, 51st State” and “Make Canada Great Again” merchandise.
Hats, flags, sweaters, socks and stickers adorning the Trump inspired messaging have shown up for sale on the online marketplace in the wake of jabs made at Canada’s sovereignty by the U.S. president in recent months.

Trump often turns to Truth Social, the social media platform he owns, to target Canada.
“Many people in Canada LOVE being the 51st State. The United States can no longer suffer the massive Trade Deficits and Subsidies that Canada needs to stay afloat. Justin Trudeau knew this, and resigned,” Trump wrote on Jan.6.
People across the country are flocking to social media to express their frustrations at seeing merchandise inspired by Trump’s rhetoric pop-up on the Canadian version of the online retailer.
“Make America Go Away,” one Reddit user wrote.
Others pointed out that Jeff Bezos, the owner of Amazon, among other tech billionaires, including Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Tesla and SpaceX boss Elon Musk, were all front and centre at Trump’s second inauguration.
Moreover, in the weeks leading up to Trump assuming office Facebook rolled back its fact-checking policies, and this week Google changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico, to the Gulf of America on its digital maps.
“Google renaming Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America, Facebook removing fact-checking, Amazon doing THIS shit. And the CEOs of all these attended Trump’s inauguration…Fascism has landed, folks, and the biggest corporations in the world are totally fine with it, and are facilitating it. Capitalism is morally bankrupt as it has always been,” another Reddit user wrote.
This isn’t the first time Amazon has come under Canadian fire this year.
Last month, calls to boycott the organization swelled when claims of union-busting surfaced after it halted Quebec operations and removed its DEI policy from its website.

“I’ve been boycotting Amazon and you should too,” one X user wrote, in response to news of the Quebec closures and merchandise sales .
Meanwhile, some Amazon shoppers have been calling on the company to take down its Make Canada Great Again stock immediately.
“This is distasteful and promotes hate for Canadians. When countries intent on taking over another, they intend to interrupt someone else’s politics, good will, and humanity. Take this product off of Amazon. Do not promote conflict,” one customer wrote in the Amazon review section.
Now Toronto reached out to Amazon for a comment but did receive a response.
