Will there be Fireworks? The internet is buzzing after former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and American pop sensation Katy Perry were spotted together at a high-end restaurant in Montreal.
On Monday night, the pair were seen dining together at Le Violon, a MICHELIN Guide restaurant located in Montreal’s Plateau neighbourhood, according to a report by TMZ.
The restaurant’s co-owner and co-executive chef, Danny Smiles, told the media that the duo arrived around 7 p.m., but did not appear to be dating or engaging in public displays of affection (PDA).
“Justin wrapped up the evening by picking up the tab, after the pair stuck around for a few hours,” TMZ reported.

Neither Trudeau or Perry have commented on their encounter by the time of publication.
The pop artist is currently in Canada for her The Lifetimes Tour, with her first performance taking place in Ottawa on Tuesday, followed by a stop in Montreal on Wednesday. Perry is scheduled to perform on Aug. 5 and 6 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
The American singer and former fiancé Orlando Bloom ended their relationship in June, with Perry confirming the split earlier this month.
Trudeau, and ex-wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, also announced their separation in 2023, after 18 years of marriage.
Meanwhile, people online shared their thoughts about the unique sighting, expressing shock and excitement.
“Lmao WHAT,” one Reddit user said.
“That’s the most random couple I can imagine getting together in 2025,” another user wrote.
“I never imagined these two talking to each other at all,” another user added.
Others online expressed support for the pair, noting that platonic occasions are common.
“People can have platonic dinners, even if they are single/divorcing,” one Redditor said.
