Several service adjustments on transit routes across the city come into effect today.

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is implementing improved and increased service in 37 daytime buses, streetcar, subway, and two overnight bus routes.

Subway service on Line 2 travelling through Bloor and Danforth, and Line 4 through Sheppard, will be more frequent to align with ridership demand.

The 501 streetcar service will be adjusted between 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., from Monday to Friday to also meet ridership demand. Streetcars will continue to arrive every ten minutes.

Meanwhile, the Pantograph overhead installation is set to be completed between the Bathurst Street and King-Queen-Roncesvalles intersection.

Streetcar service will operate on Pantograph between Dufferin and Shaw streets, with more efficient heating and air conditioning, better vehicle performance and fewer delays caused by disconnections from overhead wires.

Due to the start of overhead upgrade work on King Street between Bathurst Street and Queen Street East, streetcar service will be removed east of Bathurst Street.

The 504 streetcar will primarily operate on Queen Street, from Dufferin Gate Loop to Broadview Station through Dufferin Street, King Street West, Shaw Street, Queen Street and Broadview Avenue.

Replacement buses will be in effect along King Street including the 504C from Dundas West Station to Distillery and 504D from Strachan Avenue to Broadview Avenue at Gerrard Street East.

Buses will continue to arrive within every ten minutes or sooner, the TTC says.

The TTC has not announced any changes to Line 1, from Yonge to University or to the future Line 3, Scarborough SRT.

The transit commission is, however, changing bus boarding locations for construction work to enhance stations in light of Line 3, also starting today.

Service changes come into effect shortly before the TTC is set to increase fares for youth and adults by 10 cents on Apr. 1.
