With TIFF in full swing, Now Toronto asked this year’s festival goers what they thought was the best movie of all time?

From beloved franchises to all-time classics, Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) guests had a range of taste when it came to their favourite feature film.

One dedicated movie-goer in the first fanzone of the festival named a widely-acclaimed film as their favourite.

“That’s a really hard question, but maybe Jurassic Park because that’s like an all-time classic,” she said.

Her friend also had a few favourites to choose from, naming two older films – Taxi Driver (1976) and Almost Famous (2000).

One fan shared that his recent movies to binge were from the work of acclaimed director and filmmaker Quentin Tarantino.

“It’s kind of controversial, I guess, but I like Inglourious Basterds a lot,” he said.

Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner was another favourite for one fan.

“I really like… the cinematography and everything,” she said. “It’s always just been like my fan favourite.”

A comic book reader at the opening night’s fanzone chalked it down to all of the X-Men movies.

“I just like anything superhero. I’m a big comic nerd,” they said.

And, of course, who could forget one of the absolute classics.

“It must be The Godfather,” said another fan who was visiting Toronto for the festival. “It’s a classic… It’s so realistic.”

Although he said if he were to change the genre to sci-fi, Avatar was his pick.

TIFF brings movie lovers from all over the world right to Toronto, with some even finding a new favourite film among the newer releases.

TIFF 2026 runs until Sunday, Sept. 20.
